So, begun the course with a pinecone. Inspiring me to attempt some claywork to mirror the effect the different layers had.
Then, I glazed it using natural colours typical of organic forms.
The organic forms led me to create a face from clay that had the subtle effect of bark in. Also, it's a well known fact humans search for faces in objects they encounter, and so I included this within the bark effect.
I then found the difference in light and shadow my clay creaed interesing, and did some work with folded sheets. Here, I used the brittle material of ceramics to create the soft folds of the draped cloth.
My exam peice encompassed faces which I had previously used with the new folded sheets idea. This allowed me to hide the face, and created the theme of hidden emotions within the typical human being.
